Reinvent the Will P3

“Not my will, but thine be done.” In this phrase is all the faith to silence a thousand rebels. It is the power to withstand secular ambition that would quench fiery spiritual initiative. It is the sunrise of submission that erases the darkness of human deception and selfish defection; sending light of hope to every area of the soul once blackened by meanness and malice; bringing light to seeds of love once hidden in the darkness of self-hate and accusatory blame; these words provide the brilliance needed to see the details of a better person in the mirror of God’s word; whereas, in times past, you would have only known the dim shadow of shame and obscured sin.

“Not my will, but thine be done.” This is at the very heart of the cross. It could be argued that God’s greatest strength was shown in the His most vulnerable moment of weakness. Yet, pushing back the restless goat nature of mere survival he became a silent lamb led to the slaughter. All because He showed submission during the mission; he showed humility at the maximum moment of personal fear and anguish. When you can learn to utter those words, “not my will but thine be done”, you shake off chains of pride and walk in the liberty of true inner power. You are no longer in control of your own destiny; you have put the destiny in control of God’s higher power. The steering wheel of ambition is placed in the hand of the Sovereign King, and my friend, the route he will take you will be both incomparably adventurous and transcendently safe.
