Dragon Doors

Gen 4:7  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Gen 4:7  If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." (NIV)

Don’t fall for the “I’m cute” trick. A serpent is a serpent. Sin is sin. You can’t change their nature. And no matter how appealing they are, it will only end up doing what’s appalling. Give them an inch, they’ll take a mile of your soul. Give them a crack in the door, they’ll put a chasm in your heart. Your desires and its desires should be different. But when you begin to think they are the same is when the danger begins. Because its desire is one thing: to devour. You may want to experiment, but it wants to destroy. You may simply want to scratch the curiosity itch, but it wants to sink its teeth into you and ravage your soul.

Sometimes the way to keep the door shut is to change your heart. Change the desire, shut the door. The enemy knows your weaknesses.

And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

Gen 19:10  But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

Gen 19:11  And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Lot felt the pressure of outside influences. He succumbed as much as putting himself in danger first. He was willing to make a perverse deal with the deviants, but the angels in the house had different plans. They pulled him in the door. They not only shut the door, they pressed against it. You see, sometimes the thing to do when you feel the pressure of darkness and evil at the door is to create your own pressure. Prayer pressure. Intercession puts boulder-like weight against the encroaching imps of temptation and evil. And in this case, it wasn’t just one pushing back. The whole house helped. It was a unified effort to barricade the blasphemers. My friend, you can keep the wickedness of the world out better when you get your whole house together, pushing against the door, exercising faith and the fear of God to banish unwanted ideas, spirits, and feelings.

Keep them from coming in the door and your house is safer.

Keep them from coming in the door and your heart is cleaner.

Keep them from coming in the door and your head is clearer.

Keep them from coming in the door and your self-hate is vacant.

Keep them from coming in the door and your heat is for the right passion instead of the wrong.
